Finding Solutions

Solutions to life’s challenges are attainable.

Today, we face so much pressure at home, the workplace, and in the community. Our social and political environments are rife with choices to conform or remain a maverick. Neither option brings a satisfying outcome because they have consequences.

Because of such factors, my guiding principle in life is to make the best of every moment and not hold grudges or blame others for my problems.

Whatever problem I have today will not be there forever. I put a friendly face on my challenges and try to find a way around them through prayer, counseling, and interaction with others for information or to read about them – especially in this age of Google and access to an unlimited amount of data.

I am determined never to give up on my challenges because of my firm and abiding hope that there is always a solution to every problem. This knowledge gives me the drive to find a solution. Despair and discouragement are not in my dictionary of life, whereas both determination and diligence are there.

People come in all varieties.

Whenever I meet people, I have known through past encounters that there are those with whom I can get along and those that I can’t. It is not other people’s responsibility to go along with me but mine to adjust.

That mindset makes it difficult for a person’s behavior to upset me. After all, no two people are the same — not even identical twins!

Live each day as if it is your last.

Life is what it is because none of us knows for sure how we came into this cosmic mystery and why our paths came to intersect daily. The important thing is to figure out what we want to do with these daily encounters. We either turn them into an exercise in self-destruction or self-discovery.

I choose to turn mine into self-discovery of my purpose, gifts, capacity, and passion. With that at the back of my mind, I live every day as if it is my last. I look at many things as transient and hopeful of the next scene in the unfolding drama of Life.

Don’t dwell on the past – look forward.

I don’t give up on life no matter the situation or environment because I am always hopeful of the best in the next chapter. For me, to live is to do all I can to make it exciting.

My focus is not on regret for what I didn’t get right – that is in the past. Every past mistake is a lesson learned for the future.

My mindset focuses on the shortness of life and how to make the best use of my time. Therefore, I focus on the future and strive to learn from the past – because life is short.

Here is an excellent way to end. The Pauline letter to the Philippians 4:8 says,

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
